Freedom
Is Not Free recognized and celebrated our
freedom.
Within
humankind is the unstemmable desire for the unalienable
rights given to us by our Creator: Life, liberty and
the pursuit of happiness. Freedom Is Not Free
was not a promotion of a political party or system
of government, but of freedom itself.
The
event combined rock, orchestral, and choral music
with strong images that reflect and contrast freedom
with its opposite. Guest
artists, and a choir made up of community members
throughout the Portland metro area, performed in an
extravagant "thank you" to our Veterans.
Video testimonies of current military servicepeople,
veterans, and civilians who have experienced life
in a country without freedom are interspersed with
music and images throughout the event. A Holocaust
survivor spoke about what freedom means to him. Military
heroes spoke on the costs and responsibilities that
come with freedom, and we took significant time to
thank and appreciate our Veterans.
